Unlike a fixed stud/joist plate, the integrated hanger bars make this kit compatible with both T-grid and stud/joist ceiling structures — a single solution that covers the two most common commercial and residential framing scenarios.

During rough-in, the hanger bars extend to span the framing cavity and lock into position, holding the mounting plate level and centered before drywall or ceiling tile goes up.
